Brand New
I tease my husband because he has no sense of direction. We have lived in Las Vegas for 10 years, yet when he drives to places we have been to numerous times before, he is Brand New, as if he is finding it for the first time. I was Brand New recently attending a conference here in town. Although I have visited this particular property countless number of times, I was completely lost when attempting to find the conference center. By day 2, I was an expert, but it truly made me empathize and brought back the advice a wise man once said, “common sense is experience based.” Brand New can be exciting, but it can also be filled with anxiety. Travel can be one of these uneasy experiences for many. Then again, from a hospitality mindset, it is innate for us to treat each guest as if we are the one who is Brand New and answer, direct, and assist as if it is the first time every time.
